At the time of writing we have raised almost £350,000 of the £578,000 needed for the conversion of the First Floor premises – this represents a significant advance since the beginning of the year. Read on to find out where our recent boosts have come from! We can also report that five Leeds firms have tendered for the building work and one will be appointed soon.
Your donations reach top £16,000
Donations online and through the Box Office have this month reached a huge £10,000 and continue to climb! And cash donations on-site have so far raised a further £6,000. We are enormously grateful to you, our customers, and offer a heartfelt “thank you” for your generous and ongoing support.
Supporters take to the roof
On Saturday 8 March 2008 twenty-six intrepid First Floor supporters braved the wind and showers and abseiled down the Playhouse’s fly tower in aid of the First Floor campaign. From Playhouse staff and friends to students and even Leeds City Councillor Liz Minkin, even the most anxious faced their fears and played their part in raising an estimated £3,000. Thank you to abseilers, sponsors and supporters one and all for this tremendous effort.
Biffaward
The most recent First Floor grant has come from landfill tax, courtesy of Biffaward. The application to Biffa was supported by the Friends of the Playhouse, who donated the 10% match funding required for the application. The resulting £49,500 is a handsome amount.
Your chance to Adopt A Step
We are offering you - companies and individuals - the opportunity to “adopt” one of the 20 steps between the ground floor entrance and First Floor. We are asking for a minimum donation of £1,000 (+ VAT), in return for which you will have the honour of your name painted onto ‘your’ step! See main First Floor page for further information.
