| Creative communities Community Network & Network Partners The Community Network and Network Partners scheme allows community groups from across Leeds and West Yorkshire to see the shows and use the resources at the Playhouse. Groups are entitled to special discount rates for many shows. Network members may call on the expertise of Playhouse staff to help them organise a special event, bring a group for a backstage tour or take part in creative workshops. The Playhouse also holds Community Network open days and a Christmas Party where groups can publicise their work to playhouse attenders and other network groups There are currently 86 members of Community Network and 19 Network Partners who can tailor the benefits of the scheme to suit their groups. Over the past season Community Network groups have been involved with the Playhouse in numerous ways. There has been an exhibition of artwork in our Newlyn Gallery from two Network Partner groups, Prescription: Art, and CYPAC, part of First Contact Detached Youth Project. Other groups, including Base 10 Buddying Project, Making Space and Ashwood Day Centre have taken part in tours of the Playhouse and drama workshops at Costume Hire. In May, ALTCO, St Anne's Centre for the Homeless and Burley Lodge Centre Drama Group attended a performance and workshop at the Playhouse run by our Creative Education Consultant John Mee, and Community Network group 1 in 4 Theatre Company. Several groups attended a performance by Cardboard Citizens, the homeless people's theatre company and the bar and restaurant continue to be used be groups as a meeting area. The Summer Open Day took place in May. Ten groups took stalls in the foyer to publicise their work. The day was very well attended with 42 people taking part in backstage tours and 52 people attending a performance by Network Partner group Osmondthorpe Resource Centre Drama Group. Other activities including dressing up and a visual arts workshop. Does your group qualify for membership?
