Sound Play

Sound Play was a two-year Youth Music funded project, which introduced children to music activity in an accessible, meaningful and sustainable way. Children from primary and secondary schools participated in the project to build new skills and self-esteem and gain confidence in their ability to learn new things.

Sound Play aided transition from primary to secondary school and integration into a new peer group. A researcher was assigned to Sound Play to see if it met its objectives and to investigate the impact of the project on the participants. Sound Play was funded and supported by Youth Music, Provident Financial and Leeds College of Music.

Final Celebratory event

The final Sound Play Celebration was in the Quarry Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse on Monday 3rd April 2006. All the groups from participating schools came together to perform and share their work with their family, friends and each other.
