Storymakers

What is it?
The storymakers project aims to encourage children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 classes to become storytellers and to share their stories with others. Through storytelling children develop their imagination, language, creativity and awareness of others. They have the opportunity to enjoy and play with words and explore other worlds.

How does it work?
A parcel is sent out to participating classes each term. It is addressed to the children themselves and must be opened by the whole class. Each parcel contains an exciting prop which can then be used a stimulus for storytelling and other creative work.

Resource materials are given out to teachers at a meeting prior to the box being sent out.

How much?
Storymakers costs just £5.00 per box which covers our postage and packaging.

Feedback
"It was a positive experience for many of the children; they talked about it afterwards, retelling their story and explaining what it was about. It was nice to see a usually quiet and shy girl come out of herself and begin to play imaginatively, showing lots of enjoyment, her face lit up... The objects inside the bag were not all familiar to the children. Many of our children have not been to the seaside and have never seen a shell...It was a good experience for staff, to develop our skills and ideas in imaginative play."
