The West Yorkshire Playhouse is one of the most successful major producing theatres in Britain with an original and vibrant programme that includes plays, musicals, concerts, conferences and educational projects. Applications are invited for the following vacancies:

GENERAL DIRECTOR

Salary £55,000 - £60,000

Since opening in 1990, West Yorkshire Playhouse has established a reputation both nationally and internationally as one of Britain's leading, award-winning theatres, producing up to sixteen of its own shows each year, including many world or British premieres. In addition to its two main auditoria, an exciting new space, First Floor, is being created from the theatre’s former store to provide large visual and performing arts studios dedicated to activities for young people.

The General Director is a new position, created as a joint Chief Executive role working alongside Ian Brown, Artistic Director and Chief Executive, and reporting directly to the Board. We are seeking an inspirational individual who will make a major contribution to the future success of the theatre, overseeing the sound management of the organisation, driving commercial growth and maximising stakeholder relations.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced leader in the cultural sector or creative industries with a track record of working successfully with creative people, financial acumen and entrepreneurial flair, the ability to develop effective partnerships and excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
